In this workshop we aim to build a solar oven using recycled and repurposed materials.

There are many different types of solar ovens, ranging from high-tech, expensive models to simple, low-cost designs that can be made with common materials. In this workshop, we will focus on building a basic box-type solar oven, which is an easy and affordable option for cooking food using renewable energy. With just a few materials and some simple tools, you can create a sustainable and eco-friendly oven that can be used to cook a range of delicious meals. A box-type solar oven is a simple and effective design that can be built using common materials such as cardboard, aluminum foil, and glass or plastic cover. To retain and absorb heat, the box is insulated and painted black inside, while the reflective material is used to direct sunlight into the box. The cooking vessel is placed inside, and the heat from the sun cooks the food. The temperature inside a box-type solar oven can reach up to 150°C on a clear, sunny day. If everything goes well, we'll have a delicious lunch using only renewable energy and without any emissions or pollution!

Participants are welcome to bring food to cook in the solar oven. We will provide some corn on the cob and other vegetables to be cooked in the oven(s).
