This workshop is open for kids (8–12 years old). Our pedagogical assistant Ayke (NL/ENG) will be present to support the children throughout the workshop. If you would like to rsvp: send an email using this link. Information you share with us will be used only for communication and discarded after the event. More in our Privacy text :)
data_mill provides a space for participants to reclaim ownership of their personal and communal digital footprint through the active process of digital weaving.
Using a hand made digital loom (web application) participants will get the opportunity to craft their own tapestry using their personal data as the raw material.
The workshop will explore methods of reflection in an age of digital ephemera. Participants will weave objects of personal meaning while investigating issues of private platform ownership, rapid optimisation and overproduction.
Access requirements:
There are no access requirements, all tools used will require no coding and I can adjust font sizes, colours and other parameters to meet visibility needs on their screen. As this is a tool made in p5.js there may be issues with using screen readers but I am happy to work around these needs.
